Well...Italy is the Champions of the 2006 FIFA World Cup...deserving winners too..i told myself that if it were to be decided by penalty shoot out then italy would be the victorious one coz personally i think Barthez is too short at 1.8m compared to Italy's Buffon..haha... but then again Buffon too didnt make any save that night...Trezeguet did beat him but unfortunately it hit the crossbar and missed the goal line by a mere 6 inches...probably the widest 6 inches in France's footballing history...italy's penalty takers were much more confident and determined to put the ball at the back of the net...oh and did anyone noticed cannavaro's reaction during the shootouts? He did not show even the slightest emotion throughout the shoot outs...not when italy scored and not even when trezeguet missed... all the other italian players were jumpin up and down but he just stood there with his arm folded across his chest... but he did exploded with euphoria when Grosso fired in the winning penalty...haha...
prior to the shoot outs there was the sending off of Zinedine Zidane...Zizou's moment of madness was well...mad...and shocking...i wonder what Materazzi said to him...must have been something really really really insulting and provoking...i've seen loads of head butts alright, the common one being 'forehead to forehead' but i've never seen anything quite like Zizou's ...man, that was probably the king of all heat butts!Oh well no matter how good he is, he is human after all and as human we all do succumb to certain weakness such as not being able to control our temper..
oh and Germany did grabbed the third place by beating portugal...obviously i was supporting portugal but honestly we lacked a first class finisher and thus we were not able to convert the chances that we were given to goals...but a fourth place finish is not that bad :-) but i have to say that portugal reputation has somewhat been marred by Cristiano Ronaldo with his diving antics and simulations..even i was disgusted and annoyed by it...haiz
so it's the end of the world cup..no football for like what..a month?EPL is on the12th of August i think..or maybe the 17th..not sure... oh i just found out newcastle might be bidding for Germany's Miroslav Klose..hehe..good choice! hopefully we'll get him...his club, Werder Bremen, stated that he is not for sale though...
oh i said i was gonna write bout the Nasyid Concert..actually the name of the concert is "Konsert Islam: Untukmu Rasulullah S.A.W."(Islamic Concert: For You Rasulullah S.A.W.)..it was organised by the Aljunied Madrasah... It was really nice...I did enjoy myself that night...i was especially impressed by a little girl who sang a song in Arabic language and played the violin..i think she was about 7 or maybe younger that that...impressive... ;-)
