Ole Ole OleSo the world cup is into its second stage now...the round of 16... happy to say that 50 percent of the teams i'm backing are thru to this next round...by the way...i'm backing portugal..obviously..haha...italy, czech republic, france, saudi arabia, japan and ukraine... i'm kinda neutral bout other teams except for switzerland ...i most definitely wouldnt want the swiss to win it...they knocked out turkey in the playoffs! but i wouldnt mind if argentina win the trophy i guess...that 24 passes- goal against the serbians was amazing!..so anyways.. the czech are out! i thought they would go far with the kind of players they have..but it wasnt meant to be...who would have thought they would lose against ghana after tearing apart the united states defence? but i keep forgetting...this is football...anything can happen... i tend to underestimate or overestimate teams at times...
so it will be:
germany vs sweden
italy vs australia
england vs ecuador
brazil vs ghana
argentina vs mexico
spain vs france
portugal vs holland (go portugal...haha...go deco!!!)
switzerland vs ukraine (i hope ukraine will blast off the swiss from the world cup)
okay here are my top 3 goal from the round of 32 matches
1) Esteban Cambiasso (argentina vs serbia and montenegro)
the argentinians strung 24 passes between them before crespo backheeled it to cambiasso for a clinical finish..this is not just any defence we are talking about. the serbian only conceded one goal in ten games leading up to the wolrd cup... and for argentina to trashed them 6 - 0 just shows just how much control and dominance it has over the serbs... hmmm.. if only newcastle could play like this, we'll be able to give arsenal, man utd, liverpool and chelsea a run for their money in the epl!
2) Torsten Frings (germany vs costa rica)
this one is a screamer...i think it was like from 35m from the goal?? the costa rican keeper was absolutely helpless...even i was stunned by that goal
3) Deco (portugal vs iran)
haha...he's got to be in my list...not that i'm biased..it was a nice goal... delightful...haha... 25m drive that completely beat the iranian keeper...i remember the commentator saying "a special goal from a special player!" haha :-)
oh ya...i found out from soccernet.com that our shamsul maidin is the top referee of the tournament! haha...kinda proud of him and for singapore...as one of the straits times journalist mentioned "when it comes to rules and regulation, dont mess with Singapore!"....
speaking of referees...i'm kinda frustrated by some of them...hate it when they blow that damned whistle (it took me more than 4 tries to spell
whistle correctly) of them too many times...sort of break the flow of the game...sometimes they get too carried away in handing out yellows and red cards that i think they themselves who should be getting the cards...but i do find them funny at times... i like it when they slipped and fell on the pitch...hillarious! haha...seriously they can just run and run and all of the sudden u see them on the ground..! seeing them slipped is better than seeing players slipped or get tackled.
'nuff bout footie... in one week time i will be jobless!! i mean it in a good way.. haha... i've had enough of that place...cant stand the people there...thought of resigning 9th of june so i can watch the world cup but i didnt think it was a good enuff reason plus 9th of june was an inconvinient date according to the supervisor and my mum and my aunt plus i do need extra money...haha...so i decided to postponed it till the end of this month... hopefully the next time i get a job it'll be somewhere better, with better people....and hopefully it'll be a job that i really want to do...whoops okies gotta go!
